| "...and if you
walk to the end of the block, there sits a Starbucks. And directly
across the street -- in the exact same building as that Starbucks --
there is... another Starbucks. There is a Starbucks across the street
from a Starbucks! And ladies and gentlemen, THAT is the end of the
universe." - Lewis Black

Rob Tucker writes: "They are in the same parking lot even. You could throw a rock at one and hit the second on the bounce."
Shane Smith writes: "There is a Starbuck's on the corner of Broadway and Barclay Sts, and another right across City Hall Park, on the corner of Park Row and Beekman St. Not quite across the street, but in spitting distance." Drew Miller writes: "In Wheat Ridge CO there is a King Soopers with a starbucks in it and in the same parking lot, visible from the King Soopers is another starbucks." Brian Jackson writes: "Ok, here's one I think you'll like. Near UC Riverside (University of California at Riverside), there is a little shopping center (cinema, few restaurants, nothing very large). Originally it had one Starbucks on one corner, but as new restaurants were put in, a new, larger Starbucks was put in in the same shopping center. We all thought that the first would close, but to this day, they both remain open, in the same center, 200 feet away from each other. To be fair though, at any given time, there are a fair amount of people in both. Proof? From the Starbucks locater:"
Ember Leo writes: " I don't know
if you are still collecting this information, but in the San Francisco
Bay Area, it's not at all uncommon for two, even three Starbucks to all
be in the same strip mall. The usual combination is that there will be a
Starbucks free-standing, and a grocery store (either Albertsons, or
Safeway) with a Starbucks inside. I can think of several locations where
this is the case, off the top of my head, it's so common. Tully and
Central Expressway in San Jose, Sequoia Station on El Camino in Redwood
City, and Loheman's Plaza on Homestead in Sunnyvale, to name a few. What
is slightly less common is when there is also a Barnes & Noble in the
same shopping center as such a pairing, and then there will
Rachael Prewett writes, "At Shinjuku station, in Tokyo, Japan there are two Starbucks. One is
part of the station itself, and the other is across the street and a few shops down. I saw the two, did a bit of a double take, remembered Mitch
Souders writes, "In Albertsons
containing a starbucks: Maynard Poindexter write, "isaac - you must never have been in downtown san francisco. in the financial district there are literally 2, 3 or 4 starbucks at almost every corner and i am not exaggerating. the only reason i can think is so that you don't have to cross the street to get to the other one. i'm not kidding! (i don't have pics because i am too lazy to go do that) But, ask around to people who live/work there - there are so many that it is easily confirmed. the joke is - in one of my MBA classes, we studied starbucks corp, and according to starbucks long range strategic plan, they are only at 25% of their total goal. where will the others go?! (the universe will actually end when there is finally a starbucks INSIDE another starbucks!!)" Scott Harrison writes, "This is a map of Starbucks locations in downtown Seattle. It's from the Starbucks site. If the link doesn't work then just go to the Starbucks site's store locator and type in Seattle, WA and do a 2 mile search." Another close call, but I'll take. Reid McMullian writes, "in orlando, fl, just down the street from the university of central florida, there are three starbucks in one shopping center. the corner shop, one inside barnes and noble, and one inside a super target." Alright, I'll admit, this one doesn't quite fit the bill, but it's close. There is a shopping center containing three Starbucks in one building. Jennifer Fujimoto submitted this to me and here is the link: http://www.shopcitycentre.com/shops/starbucks.htm Matt Warnock has provided me with screenshots of
the Starbucks phenomenon from Shrek 2. I got the movie! Sam Prus writes, "... at Webster and Clybourn in Chicago, you can sit in a Starbucks in the Barnes and Noble and look out the window to see a Starbucks across the street." I have no pictures though to confirm this. I have confirmation from Jennifer Gonzalez that in New York City there is another case of the Starbucks across the street form a Starbucks phenomenon. Apparently one instance of this is on Astor Place and the other One Near 38th street. Pictures are below: Adam Lipstadt writes, "The Astor place on is a bit funnier, because it borders on being a *triple* Starbucks – the double black banners on the red building in the attached detail jpg read Barnes and Noble Bookstore, which of course, has a café which resells Starbucks branded coffee." I n another email Adam writes, "...there are 20 Starbucks within a mile of the Astor Place stores (not counting Barnes and Noble)." Another picture.Steven Seydell sent me a link of the Starbucks across the street from a Starbucks in Vancouver, B.C. The link is here and below is the picture. Jackie Whiteley adds, "I just wanted to let you know a little about the two Starbucks in Vancouver. Back when it was okay to smoke in some places, they opened a second Starbucks so that one was non-smoking, while the other allowed smoking. That way they could please everyone. Of course, now you can't smoke indoors in coffee shops anywhere, so it's a little redundant. But that's the logic as to why they thought that across the street from Starbucks was a great place to build a Starbucks." Have Proof? |

If you know of another "Starbucks across the
street form a Starbucks" please let me know. Provide some
proof and I will post it on my website! Due to a complaint I received, I have removed the links to find more Lewis Black related material. The space this site is hosted on is not free and until another funding source is found, this page will exist until the current monies run out. Not many people click on the link, but it was enough to generate $26.50 last year (this website's first year) which was less than a quarter of what it cost to host this site considering the large bandwidth this site must provide to viewers. Sorry everyone!" |
